- Dab gently (tap lightly).
- Use fingertips to apply gently under the eyes.
- Move from the outer corner towards the inners corner of each eye. Remember this rule; from the outer corner towards the inner corner (otherwise you'll develop wrinkles quickly).
- If you are applying eye cream to the eyelids too (not recommend though), apply by moving from the inner corner to the outer corner of each eyelid.
- Use q-tip to apply on top of night cream.
- On problem areas only (pimples, acne, etc.)
- A combination of exfoliator (scrub) and masque is often called "mini-facial".
- A mini-facial is generally performed on weekly basis.

Basic Explanation
- Helps you remove make-up before your skincare routine.
- Cleansing action. Removing dirt particles, excessive oil, metabolic wastes, perspiration, etc.
- During the day, your skin accumulates dirt, dust, and other environmental foreign elements. You have to wash this off before you go to sleep.
- You are not exposed to dirt or dust while asleep, unless you are camping. At night, your skin makes up an oily layer. This layer is beneficial to your skin. It acts as a natural protector. Therefore, there is no reason to get rid of it in the morning. That's why you do NOT want to use a cleanser in the morning. A cleanser is to be used once a day only – at night.
- Exfoliating action. Removing dead skin cells, excess surface cells , exposing new, younger skin. The terms “scrub”, “exfoliant”, and “exfoliator” are interchangeable.
- Custom, specialized action. This may mean cleansing, exfoliating, anti-bacterial, moisturizing, nourishing, regenerative, firming, whitening, etc.
- Promotes better dispensation of subsequently applied treatment products.
- Astringent belongs to the toner family, but has slightly different composition and is usually mentioned when it comes to oily or problem skin.
- Delivers the active ingredients or “nutrients” into the deeper levels of the skin (deeper – in comparison with a moisturizer, i.e. with night and day creams). For example, delivers anti-aging action or brightens the skin. The serum is applied between the toner and the moisturizer.
- Compare with moisturizer: moisturizer has larger molecules than the serum, so it can't penetrate as deep as the serum does. While the serum delivers nutrients, moisturizer primarily takes care of hydration. (There are hydrating serums too, their mechanism of action is different from that of a moisturizer.)
- Generally means moisturizer with additional benefits.
- Moisturizer hydrates the skin.
- An example of an additional benefit of a good moisturizer is regulating and stabilizing the skin's acid mantle, which is a thin layer of emulsified oil and water with slightly acidic pH. The mantle varies according to skin type and conditions. The closer a skin product matches the mantle's composition, the more readily the skin will absorb it.
- Generally means moisturizer with additional benefits, but the main benefit of a day cream is specifically environmental protection. Emphasis is on protection.
- While the night cream is meant to give MORE benefits to the skin, the day cream is primarily meant not to allow damage to incur. A good day cream does offer additional benefits too, but they are secondary. The emphasis is on protection.
- You can always use a night cream during a day – it's still beneficial, even though you are missing protective function. Worth to note that until certain age environmental protection is not crucial anyway, so it's okay to use a night cream in a dual manner – as a night cream, and as a day cream.
- But you should NEVER use a day cream at night. Using a day cream at night is an inherent contradiction and is generally harmful to your skin.
- After certain age (27+) you should specifically use a day cream too, as around that age environmental protection becomes a crucial factor for your skin.
- The eye cream targets the fragile tissue around the eyes, revitalizing and fortifying it, removing tiredness and fatigue, and providing anti-aging action.
- External treatment for localized imperfections. "External” means that we do not target the treatment to penetrate through layers of skin. Instead, the treatment rather acts on the skin's surface, for example, by performing localized drying action.
- The difference between the terms serum and concentrate is that the serum usually delivers anti-aging action, while the concentrate delivers other problem-solving actions (for example, acne prevention). Otherwise, the terms are almost interchangeable.
Selected High Impact Skincare Tips
Simple yet impactful
- Use cleanser once a day only – at night. There is no need to use it in the morning.
- When exposed to direct day light, always use sunscreen (it may be present in your day cream). The best sunscreen is the simplest one: physical zinc oxide SPF30 sunscreen. Never use chemical sunscreens. No need to use higher than SPF30 sunscreens.
- Avoid products containing petroleum and its derivatives. It's worth giving it extra effort to find out if a product is indeed petroleum-free. For example, primol is derived from petroleum – and is just as BAD for your skin – but “officially” a product containing primol may state “petroleum-free” on a label.
- Avoid parabens! It's worth giving it extra effort to find out if a product is indeed paraben free. For example, polyparaben is not legally considered a paraben, yet essentially IT IS, and it may be more damaging to your skin than “legal” parabens.
- It's praiseworthy to pursue organic products when it comes to food. When it comes to skincare, it's not that simple. There are 2 points to consider. First, by going strictly organic you discard some advanced and effective (and safe) Anti-Aging mechanisms. Second, non-food products can claim to be organic without being certified, so authenticity such claims are not enforceable. This practically means that you have no reason to believe that a skincare product is organic even if it says “organic” on a label. When it comes to skincare, “organic” is rather a marketing term than a term describing a product.
- It's beneficial to use eye cream after the age 27.
- You may use a night cream at day too, but you should never use a day cream at night, as it may be damaging for your skin.
